Deep crimson-purple orach.
Leaves are deep purple and have a spinach-like flavor. NOTE: Expect a small percentage of all-green plants. Avg. 100 seeds/lb. Packet: 175 seeds.
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Atriplex hortensis
CULTURE: Orach does well in any well-drained garden soil. Tolerant of both hot and cold weather, it is best planted early spring through midsummer. Sow seeds 1-2" apart, covering 1/4", in rows spaced 18-30" apart. Thin to 6-10" apart.
DISEASES AND PESTS: Prevent disease with crop rotation and sanitation.
HARVEST: Pick leaves when plants reach 1′ tall, or more. The plants will continue to produce young, edible leaves.
